DesignTECH @ The Lovett Gallery

An exhibition of outstanding Major Design Projects from NSW Higher School Certificate Design and Technology Students. Free entry at the Lovett Gallery, Newcastle Region Library 2nd floor Laman Street.

Luca Antolini @ King Street Hotel

On his international tour, Luca Antolini brings his Italian EDM supremo album to our very own King Street Hotel! Inspired by a recent trip to Cuba this is sure to have you ‘party rockin’. This is an 18+ event, making the most of UNO Friday’s at King St. $5 entry for student and members, $10 guests and $4 basic sprits till 1am!

The McClymonts @ West’s New Lambton

As The McClymonts release the third single – the title track – from their new Two Worlds Collide album, they have also announced a new series shows called the Acoustic Harmony Tour.

The three sisters – Brooke, Samantha and Mollie – will return to Australian this Friday for a limited season of very special shows, performing songs from their most recent release Two Worlds Collide and all the songs fans have been requesting on line in a show that will cover the girls musical history, starting back to the release of their first EP in 2006.

This is a rare opportunity for audiences to experience the girls’ in way they have never seen them before. The emphasis for this show is on the trio’s extraordinary harmonies, as the girls take the audience through their career on a musical journey that will include some very funny stories about their amazing ride to date. “We’ve been touring non-stop for the past six years and it’s always been a high energy show,” says Brooke McClymont. “We thought we’d change it up a bit by stripping everything back and letting people hear our three voices in a more personal setting.”

Touring French Film Festival @ Tower Cinema’s

Bienvenue au Touring French Film Festival hiting Newcastle this Friday! The Alliance Francaise de Newcastle is putting on the 4th edition of the Touring French Film Festival, from Friday 17th through to Sunday 19th May at the Towers Cinema. This they have five great movies and plenty of surprises for the whole family to enjoy. Book stalls, cocktail party, music… plenty of animation and opportunities to get to know the local French community.

Money Honey Opening Night @ Theater on Brunker

A musical adventure through the money maze! Pearl and Shirl are a pair of cleaners in a Brokerage House with a talent for sniffing out secrets - mostly through their well-honed snooping skills. They’re determined to find out how to get rich and embark on a journey of discovery.  A nonsensical romp filled with laughs and some cracking money songs, the Novocastrian Players strut their stuff demonstrating a wealth of stage experience and a glorious sense of fun. The director’s inclusive casting style provides opportunities for members of the cast to shine in small ensembles as well as full-cast scenes!

20th Annual Lovedale Long Lunch @ The Hunter Valley

A progressive-style lunch where food and wine lovers can feast and dance around seven Lovedale wineries over the third weekend in May each year. These Lovedale wineries team with local Hunter Valley restaurants for a weekend of fine wine, gourmet food and live entertainment. The Lovedale Long Lunch is celebrating it’s 20th Anniversary in May 2013. Sing-a-long @ Adamstown Uniting Center

Sing along with favourite numbers from Les Miserables, Gigi, An American in Paris, Fiddler on the Roof, Guys and Dolls, Hello, Dolly! and more. A recreation of the wonderful times of gathering around the piano and sharing the pleasure of making music with friends. All words are provided, with local music theatre performers leading the singing. The accompanist is Philip Sketchley.

Cost: $10, including afternoon tea. Proceeds go to Camp Breakaway which provides respite care for children and adults with high needs and their families.

Jello Biafra and The Guantanamo School Of Medicine @ The Cambridge Hotel

Jello Biafra, the infamous former frontman and chief-agitator for legendary U.S. punks Dead Kennedys, returns to Australia this May for his first live-band performances since the infamous DKs tour of 1983. Biafra will be bringing his new latest musical project with him: The Guantanamo School Of Medicine, featuring former Rollins Band and Ween bassist Andrew Weiss, drummer Paul Della Pelle (Helios Creed and Nik Turner’s Space Ritual) and the twin guitar attack of Ralph Spight (Victims Family) and Kimo Ball.

After 30-plus years, Jello Biafra’s music and lyrics remain in a class of their own. Anyone interested in Dead Kennedys won’t be disappointed to hear how Jello has not changed with the times. He has continuously spoken the truth and has never waivered from his principles - Jello Biafra is more relevant now than he has ever been!
