What’s on in Newcastle his week? Despite the cold weather spirits are high with plenty to look forward to including a performance by winner of The Voice, Karise Eden, at Westfield Kotara, Christmas in July celebrations at the Hunter Valley Gardens, as well as Kid Mac at the Great Northern.

The Fat As Butter lineup has been released with and today the general public tickets are on sale as of this morning.

Karise Eden @ Kotara Westfield
Since blowing the Australian public away with the breathtaking strength of her raw vocal abilities, Karise Eden, has been performing throughout Westfield Centres nationally and is set play at Kotara Westfield, centre court, 6pm tonight.
Karise will be showcasing songs from her recently released debut album My Journey, a collection of songs performed on the show including, You Won’t Let Me.
Loved by the Australian public, it is not only Karise’s voice that has endeared her to the masses but also her story. Having lived in more than 20 refuges she uncovered her love for music after being fostered to a loving family, who owned a music store and introduced her to the guitar.
It’s surprising to learn that despite topping the iTunes charts at only 19 years of age, she had never had a singing lesson prior to The Voice.
Check out her incredible talent at Kotara tonight, organisers are expecting crowds in their hundreds so get there early to beat the car park mayhem.
The Audreys @ Lizottes
To mark the release of their most recent album ‘Collected’ The Audreys have announced an intimate duo tour in a hand picked selection of theatres and clubs across Australia.
Since the release of, When the Flood Comes, in 2008 The Audreys have remained a favourite amongst Australian critics, with the album featuring within the Rolling Stone’s Top 50 albums of 2008.
Collected, is a unique package containing The Audreys three ARIA winning albums from 2011, 2008 and 2006 along with a rare collection of demos, b-sides, live tracks and videos including the previously unreleased song “Train Wreck Blues”.

Barry Humphries Farewell Tour @ The Civic Theatre
Paul Dainty, Chairman of Dainty Group has announced that Australia’s greatest entertainment export - iconic performer, satirist, artist and comedian Barry Humphries - will take his final bow to Australian audiences during his farewell tour, “Eat… Pray… Laugh!”.
While his famous creations are not officially retiring, Australia’s greatest Dame insists that this will be her final tour.
During the all-singing, all-dancing spectacular, Dame Edna promises to “empower” audiences as she meditates on the big issues of gender, ethnicity and climate change.
“So, Possums, please do come and say goodbye to me. It would be lovely to see your faces for the last time,” Dame Edna says.
“When you hear your grandchild’s voice saying, ‘Grandma, did you see Dame Edna’s farewell show?’ don’t betray their faith in you. Say ‘yes darling! Many, many times!’”
Performing on the 29th of June, 30th and 1st July at the Civic Theatre Newcastle, tickets are between $99 and $199.

Parachute Youth @ King Street
Matt K Von and Johnny Castro are a young duo originating from Sydney and Adelaide. They met two years ago and they are now all over the radio and in several clubs all around the world with their new single “Can’t get better than this”.
They will be playing at king Street Hotel this coming Friday! Friday nights at king street are stduent nights which means that entry is only $5 for students and $4 drinks from 9pm till 1am. If you don’t already have plans this Friday night, come check those guys out and I would suggest getting there early to avoid the massive cue to get in to the club.
Tim Freedman @ Lizottes
Tim freedman is an australian musician from Sydney and he is best known as the mainstay lead singer and keyboardist of the Australian band the Whitlams. He will be playing at Lizottes at 8pm on Friday the 29th of June. Tickets are available from the venue, it is $49 for the show only or $107 for both the dinner and the show.

Kid Mac @ The Great Northern
Kid Mac is back! He will be performing at the Great Northern this coming Saturday at 8pm.
For those of you who don’t know Kid Mac, he is originally from Sydney’s south and he has spent much of the past few years in studio writing and working along with Melbourne-based producers Twice As Nice. After years of writing, recording, international touring, single releases, movie projects, Kid Mac’s debut album “No Man’s Land” is out!
The Living Chair @ Panthers
The Living Chair will be putting on a great show at Newcastle Panthers this Saturday night. The show will kick start at 8pm and entry is only $5 for members.

Snow Time @ The Hunter Valley Gardens

Newcastle North Stars v Canberra Knights @ Hunter Ice Skating Stadium
A great way to get the adrenaline pumping this Saturday is to watch the Newcastle North Stars take on the Canberra Knights in the 57th game of the Australian Ice Hockey League.
At the height of popularity in America and Canada, supporting the Newcastle North Stars on their home grounds, the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium, ensures that no matter where you are seated you’ll be right on top of the action.
Broken down into three 20 minute periods, ice-hockey at a professional level is played at break- neck speed and an extremely high intensity, which you can enjoy perched on the sidelines with a bucket of hot chips and a coffee.

Michael Shannon @ Newcastle Art Gallery
There are three new exhibitions are opening at the Newcastle Art Gallery this Saturday including the Australian romantic realist, Michael Shannon.
Also exhibited is a sculptural collection exploring the artists’ use of objects, materials or techniques out of context as well as Irish born convict, Richard Browne, who used watercolours to portray the indigenous people from the Hunter Region and Sydney during his time here from 1811- 1817.
Establish a greater depth of insight into these individual collections by joining director of the Art Gallery of Ballarat, Gordon Morrison, as he discusses Michael Shannon’s works at 11am or the curatorial staff at 6pm as they discuss items from the sculptural collection.
Alternatively you can also attend the regular free guided tours from 11am-12pm Saturdays and Sundays.

There’s a little bit of old school Disney fun on today with the Greater Union at Glendale screening the classic, and my favourite, The Aristocrats.
It’s been 42 years since the bizarre story of a Parisian cat, set to inherent a fortune from her owners, is kidnapped by a jealous butler and forced to find her way home with the help of a street-smart alley cat.
