Thursday 26th September
The BFG @ Civic Playhouse
Hunter Region Drama School presents: Roald Dahl’s THE BFG.
Adapted by: David Wood
Director: Daniel Stoddart
Composer: Jenna Gill
Design: Marion Giles
A family adventure of gigantic proportions.
Following last year’s disgustingly delightful smash hit production of The Twits comes Hunter Region Drama School’s next instalment in the Dahl series.
Join Sophie the little orphan girl and the 24-feet-high Big Friendly Giant on their wild and wonderful adventure to save the children of the world from being gobbled up by Fleshlumpeater, Bloodbottler, Bonecruncher and the meanest horde of giants ever known.
Once again Dahl’s unique vision, humour and delightful use of nonsense language blend modern-day realism with a fantastical world, captured superbly in this stage adaptation through puppetry, lighting, colour and shadow screens.
Dahl’s well loved children’s classic of huge spirit promises to awaken the little hero within us all.
“This show will thrill the kids without boring the adults. I’d be bogswinkled if I didn’t admit it is quite scrumdiddlyumptious.” Bristol Evening Post
“The chiddlers in the audience seemed genuinely enthralled – and it certainly makes a change from the telebunkum box”. Financial Times
“Whizzpopping wonderful!” Croydon Advertiser

LITTLE MAC & THE MONSTER MEN
Little Mac & The Monster Men first stomped a stage together in November 2011. Since then they’ve played at plenty of pubs, as well as car shows, charity events, vintage themed parties, swing and rockabilly dance nights, burlesque shows and kustom kulture events and festivcals including Garterbelts and Gasoline, Dolls n Shine, The Psychobilly Freakout and Punk and Beyond.
The band often feature on local radio and have had great reviews in the BMA “…there was the impression these guys and gal were true believers. Lead singer Susan ‘Little Mac’ Mackell had great stage presence”.
With a mutual interest in rockabilly music and various other musical styles such as surf, punk, garage, blues, psychobilly and jazz crossing paths between band members, there’s been no shortage of inspiration. LMMM are focusing on original material but also enjoy playing covers with their own monster twist.
The band is made up of The Big A Monster, Alex Plegt on git-aaaargh! Up in Flames James Newhouse on double bass neck and strings Nutbag Nathan Danks on sticks, pedals and skins Susan ‘Little Mac’ Mackell on vocal chords and ankle breakin’ heels

Delta Riggs @ The Small Ballroom
As Melbourne rockers THE DELTA RIGGS prepare to embark on their forthcoming AMERICA TOUR, a jaunt that gives them a chance to extensively display their wares to the east coast, they’re happy to announce some additional shows in Wollongong and Bondi by popular demand.
The band’s live show is one of the most talked about of its level in the country, and with sets at the likes of BIGSOUND and with Spotify recording them live at The Toff, this is sure to raise that reputation even further.
Prior to the tour kicking off in a few weeks the lads will also make a special appearance in Sydney next Wednesday, August 28 at The Rolling Stone Live Lodge before The America Single Tour traverses the east coast in September/October. The addition of THE WALKING WHO will see the meeting of two blistering live bands that will undoubtedly become one of the most talked about emerging and electric pairings this year. Opening slots will come from local openers THE MOUNTAINS (all NSW Shows except Bondi & Thredbo), LITTLE ODESSA (all QLD Shows except Bigsound) and PALACE OF THE KING (all VIC Shows).
