Kids’ Antarctic Art Exhibition @ Lovett Gallery

This exhibition will host a collection of collaborative works between Australian Children’s Laureate, Alison Lester and children from around the world. In 2005 Alison Lester travelled to Mawson Station as an Australian Antarctic Arts Fellow aboard the Aurora Australis with this special project in mind. Every day of the six-week voyage she sent an email to schools and families around the world, describing her experience. Children responded to her stories with marvelous pencil drawings which they sent her. Alison used these drawings to create the paintings for this Kids’ Antarctic Art Exhibition. The experience was also the catalyst for two picture books, Sophie Scott Goes South and One Little Island. On exhibition until the 23rd February, this FREE showcase is perfect in highlighting what children have to offer.

Gallery Hours: Monday-Wednesday:  9.30am-8.00pm, Thursday & Friday: 9.30am-5.00pm, Saturday: 9.30am-2.00pm
