Renew Newcastle sites
By providing artists and groups the opportunity to use what would otherwise be unoccupied buildings, Renew Newcastle is doing wonders to reinvigorate the CBD. From zines to clothing to organic food, the locations below highlight the uniqueness of this project, and of Newcastle itself.

Vox Cyclops
An independent record store differentiating itself from the hoardes of corporate chain stores, Vox Cyclops specialises in Australian and international underground music. The store also doubles as a studio for local musicians as well as a gallery for independent artists.

The Black Chandelier
The Black Chandelier is not just a gallery, it's an experience. Limerick Kaye curates the space, showcasing 16 permanent exhibitors (mostly emerging Newcastle artists) from a range of media including jewellery, woodwork and ceramics.

Gallery Raw
Newcastle House of Photography offers those involved in art photography (whether it be amatuers, students or professionals) the opportunity to exhibit their work.

MakeSpace
A small artisan store in Hunter Street Mall, MakeSpace sells a variety of beautiful and unique homemade goods including clothing for children and adults, jewellery, bags and furnishings.

Bird in the Hand Zine Shop
Zines are beautifully designed, handmade and unique publications. A Bird in the Hand sells a large collection of zines, has a host of information about zine workshops and fairs, as well as a workshop space for those interested in making their own zines, of which you can offer for sale.

Before It Began
Run by three young Novocastrian women, Before It Began is a fashion and art studio that only sells the work of local designers and artists. Each month the store exhibits a new feature artist.

Odditorium Vintage & Portrait Parlour
Odditorium incorporates a galleria exhibiting installations of featured artists, a retail store selling artwork, clothing and jewellery, and a vintage portrait parlour.

The Beanstalk Organic Food Co-op
The Beanstalk is a not for profit organisation that operates to provide its members access to healthy, fresh and local produce that is ecologically sustainable and supports local organic farmers.
