Pub Crawl: Saturday Night Out In Newcastle With The Boys
You finally have the boys together on a Saturday night and want to make the most of this sacred male bonding time. In true male tradition, this usually consists of a beer or ten, witty (or not so witty) banter and drinking games. You’re wanting to shake it up a bit and, dare I say it, bypass your local, but where should you go? A pub crawl is exactly what you need to get that testosterone pumping, beer flowing and a change of scenery, so to speak.
The following locations have been structured in order easiest to follow, especially after a few cold ones!
Honeysuckle Hotel
The Honeysuckle Hotel is the perfect location to begin your crawl. Set in a great location on Newcastle Harbour, a sunny Saturday afternoon is calling you. Grab a beer and sit on the verandah for views of the harbour and the ladies!
The Dockyard
Just a short stroll away, you will find the Dockyard, a very busy and popular location on the Honeysuckle strip. Known for their $22 bucket of Coronas, you and the boys will be happy for hours to come. Assuming food won't be on the brain at all, especially with the cold, golden liquid in front of you, but in case it is, pizzas are cheap and tasty and they're also great for sharing. Sharing is caring after all.
The Clarendon Hotel
Make the short journey to the Clarendon Hotel. Here you will have the opportunity to indulge in boutique beers if that's your thing. If not, stock up on your poison of choice and take a seat in the spacious outdoor beer garden. Keep in mind the 1.30am lock out and we still have two more pubs to go!
Pide Fez
In case you didn't recharge your batteries with solid food earlier on in the night, Pide Fez have a selection of pides, kebabs and take-away options. A bit of stogey food is the best when under the influence, so make the most of it! Open til late, if it doesn't appeal to you now, maybe it will be on the cards later.
The Delany
Just down the street, remember to put your best sober face on as we are on our second last stop for the night. Beers, ladies and more beer, The Delany is a nice warm up for most before heading into the city's nightclubs. Now would be the time to decide if you have the might to continue onto the final destination.
M J Finnegans
An Irish treat to finish the night, full of live bands and DJ's from 10.30pm. By this point, the liquid is flowing through the body and may even translate into some liquid dance moves! Make it here prior to lock out and you have made it through the crawl. There is a taxi stand outside the club but is probably best to check the queue before leaving the venue as wait times can be lengthy and patrons can be a bit on the impatient side.
