Newcastle Cinemas: Where to Catch a Flick
The smell of popcorn, a ticket scrunched in your pocket, watching awkward teenagers make-out in the corner as the lights dim, surround sound and occasionally kooky 3D glasses. Nothing beats seeing a flick on the big screen. It’s time for a night out at a Newcastle cinema with your favourite movie stars.
Reading Cinema Charlestown
Charlestown Square boasts the most high-tech and comfortable cinema experience in Newcastle. Reading Cinema is the only cinema in Newcastle to show only digital films on wall-to-wall screens. If you’re after a VIP experience, check out the Gold Lounge Cinemas for reclining seats, drinks and dinner. Action movie lovers can amplify the cinema experience in the Titan Extreme Cinema. Make sure you grab some dessert at Max Brenner after the show.
Lake Cinema Boolaroo
Lake Cinema Boolaroo is the nostalgic cinema in Newcastle. Enjoy the old school vibe and reminisce days gone by as the curtains pull away from the silver screen. The prices are pretty nice too.
Greater Union Newcastle
This cinema is closest to the CBD. Grab some dinner at a nearby restaurant, or coffee at The Black Cat next door. Especially convenient if you’ve got a hot date planned.
Greater Union Glendale
Similarly to Reading, Glendale cinema also offers 3D movies and extreme experiences. They've got a session for everyone, from students to seniors, so if you're a regular movie-goer, this could be a good choice.
Heddon Greta Drive-In
The last of a dying race - the drive-in cinema. Channel Grease and forget over-priced popcorn and noisy munchers, enjoy a flick in your own car.
Glendale has Gold Class? Really? Might want to check that again
Hi David,
Thanks so much for your feedback! I’ve updated the map accordingly. Do you have any other cinema suggestions?
Cheers,
Helen
What happened to the talk of the Regal reopening? Is it still going to happen or was it just talk?
