A Guide to New Year’s Eve 2012 in Newcastle
There might be a few people out there who believe the world is going to end before New Years so why bother planning (come on, have you seen the messed up weather we have had lately?). For the non-believers, there is still time to organise your own kick-ass way of celebrating New Year’s Eve in Newcastle. We have done the time-consuming Google search for you and found some great options for the cash-strapped and big-spenders. Don’t forget, if you know of any events happening in your area on New Year’s Eve, comment below!
Newcastle Foreshore Fireworks Display
The classic option for some New Years fun is to see the 9pm and Midnight fireworks displays on Newcastle Foreshore. To keep the young ones happy throughout the night, there will be a DJ playing Top 40 family friendly hits in Foreshore Park from 6pm – Midnight. Public transport is best due to multiple road closures across the city. For a full list of these closures, as well as information about car parking and a special New Year’s Eve transport timetable, visit the Newcastle City Council website at the above URL.
Nova Cruises
For a more classy way of bringing in the New Year, Nova Cruises is offering a Dinner and Fireworks Cruise from 7.30pm – 12.30pm. You will be taking up prime position to watch both early and Midnight fireworks on the harbour, with their big screen streaming the Sydney fireworks display live. For $175 per person, au d’oeuvres, a hot buffet and dessert are included. Bookings are essential, so give them a call for a luxurious way to spend the end of 2012.
MJ Finnegans Hotel
For a bit of chic on New Years, Finnegans is hosting a Masquerade Party for ambitious party-goers. With three rooms of entertainment, there is plenty of space to get those feet moving. Pre-sale tickets are available at the venue for $10. A small price to pay to share this occasion with your friends. Naturally there is still a 1am curfew, but that shouldn’t bother those who are there primarily to bring in the New Year.
Queens Wharf Brewery
Not only do you get to party with your mates, but you get a fantastic view of the Newcastle fireworks. With a theme of Brazilian Carnival, your night will certainly be colourful. Tickets will be sold on the night for $20, but for those wishing to splurge a little more on this special occasion, VIP pre-sale tickets are available to purchase from the Brewery for $120. These tickets include canapés, a beverage package for 4 hours, and express entry upstairs after midnight. So if you want some fun on the water, this is the destination for you.
Silo Restaurant and Lounge
If you think that bringing in the New Year is about eating a glorious amount of food, Silo is the place for you on December 31. This harbourside restaurant and lounge is offering a 5 course menu with a premium beverage package. For $140, this waterfront destination should be on any food lovers’ wishlist. Visit their website for more details and bookings.
Quality Hotel NOAH'S On The Beach
Add some elegance to your evening with dinner and drinks in the 'Grand Ballroom'. Noah’s is offering canapés and wine on arrival, followed by a 3 course meal and a selection of beverages. Live entertainment by J.F.L is also included in the $155 price tag. Starting at 8pm, this is a first-rate way to ring in the New Year with friends. Why not book out a Party Table for you and nine friends?
