5 Great Spots For A Hangover Breakfast in Newcastle
Breakfast is by far the most important (and best) meal of the day. Whether it be muesli, eggs, bacon or a little fruit, there is almost an endless number of option for when it comes to your first meal of the day.
But a far more important meal than just your standard, run of the mill breakfast is the hangover breakfast. We all know about it, the breakfast you don’t really feel like eating, just in case it might pop back up. But once it’s down (and hopefully staying down) it becomes a godsend. All of this greasy goodness magically makes us feel better almost instantaneously.
So where in Newcastle can you find a great hangover brekky? Here’s an Insider Map to point you in the direction of a few winning spots. But as always, if we’ve left out your favourite hangover haunt, feel free to let us know with a comment below.
The Embassy Cafe
The Embassy is a bit of a Newcastle institution with the cafe still serving up their famous $5 breakfast of bacon, eggs, chips and toast. If grease, grissle and oil is what you are after then this is definitely the place to go. Sure to line your stomach and keep your wallet fat!
3 Monkeys Cafe
If a sleep in is required after a night on the town, never fear as 3 Monkeys Cafe just happens to have an all day breakfast menu. With corn cakes that would make any man weak at the knees as well as the usual fare of bacon, eggs and muesli, grab a seat out in the leafy courtyard and cure yourself of your self-induced pain. And as an added bonus, the coffee at 3 Monkeys just happens to be amazing!
III Bean Espresso
Set back from the hustle and bustle of Beaumont Street, III Bean Espresso is arguably Newcastle’s finest cafe. Serving delectable breakfasts and equally amazing coffee, III Bean is a favourite amongst many Novocastrians. If you can remember to make a booking before heading out the night prior, do so as the cafe is packed out on any day of the week. And if you’re lucky enough to snare a table, try the poached eggs on sourdough as they are simply to die for.
Estabar Gelati & Espresso Bar
If a morning swim is your method to curing a nasty hangover, take a dip in the ocean at Newcastle beach before wandering over the road to Estabar Gelati & Espresso Bar. With great coffee, scrumptious food (try their porridge with seasonal fruits) and a pretty sweet view, Estabar is yet another great spot for brekky after a big night out.
The Depot on Darby
Another favourite haunt of many a Novocastrian, The Depot serves up delicious breakfasts that are filled with plenty of gastronomic goodness. Try the grilled ricotta pancakes with warm berry compote or the potato, spinach and chorizo hash or the muesli trifle, served with seasonal fruit, vanilla bean infused yoghurt and honey.
Can’t beat the $5 embassy special! It’s also available ALL DAY!
