5 Fun New Ways to Get Fit This Summer in Newcastle!
Some of us might be feeling a little guilty about our past winter indulgences and feel like we need to tick up some party credits by getting back in the gym. I’m sure I’m not the only one that would rather watch an entire season of Jersey Shore in one sitting than spend another Summer doing the same old classes and same old exercises… Urban Insider is about to help out with some great fun ways to get fit this summer in Newcastle! TRX at The Forum
TRX is the latest group fitness class to be added to the collection at the Forum. At first it may seem a little bit weird but don’t be scared! TRX is a ‘one stop shop’ effective suspension training system that doesn’t involve any clunky weights to get a work out and improve definition. The TRX system is simply suspended from the ceiling and leverages gravity and uses your body weight plus hundreds of different exercises to help you develop your strength, flexibility and core stability all at once. The Forum Harbourside runs 3 classes a week and has a current promotion that offers a free 7 day membership so you can try all the different facilities and classes available.
Ladies only Kickboxercise at Tuff’n Up
Tuff’n Up boxing Gym just near Wickham train station doesn’t seem like much from the outside but once you get past the banged up roller door, you can see this place where you can get fit without that pressure! Kickboxing is a great way to get fit this summer and Tuff’n Up offers a female only Kickboxercise class that allows women of all ages and levels to increase their overall strength and fitness without having to worry about any sweaty male egos messing with your chi! You’ll be too worried about keeping up with the fast pace combos that the time will fly by. Don’t worry if this is your first time though as there’s plenty of scope to personalise the class to your level. Kickboxercise is a great non – contact way to tone up your whole body and increase your cardiovascular fitness & this way you can learn a new skill while you’re at it. Single classes cost $16 or $85 for a month worth of training.
Swim Some Laps at Newcastle Baths
If your want to really make the most of the sunshine and great weather when it’s here, or if you’re after something a little bit cheaper then lucky you’re in Newcastle! With two amazing ocean baths at Newcastle beach and Merewether beach, swimming a few laps on the morning or to relax after a hard day’s work, this will do just the trick! If you have an injury that prevents you from other forms of high impact exercise then swimming is just the thing for you this summer to get fit & get toned!

Harness your inner minx this summer and give pole dancing a go. Not only will you get a great work out but you’ll build your self confidence and have a great laugh! This class is designed to not only get you fit but also for you to enjoy feeling super glamorous and sexy! Pivot studio also offers a great ‘Dancer’s Body’ workout that features routines that are created to achieve the ideal dancer’s body. This class is great for stripping off the weight and building long lean dancer’s physique. For something a little more familiar, Zumba classes are also available.
