Photographing Claremont Avenue Reserve, Adamstown Heights
When you see a ‘No through road’ sign, it seems to read ‘Keep going, move along, don’t bother coming down here.’ In the case of Claremont Avenue though, this is definitely not the case. Situated in Adamstown Heights, the street backs onto the appropriately named Claremont Avenue Reserve. The main clearing is the same as any - a field of grass is a field of grass - but it’s what resides around the edges that rewards a bit of exploring. A diverse range of flora and fauna abound. A number of tracks wind their way through the scrub. It’s possible to forget you’re in the middle of the urban sprawl, even if just for a short while.
Each week “The Grid” features photos of a selected area of the Newcastle & Hunter region, capturing moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
