Newcastle: Where The City Meets The Sea

Scott Street, Newcastle

1. Scott Street, Newcastle

The city and the sea are two of my favourite places and Newcastle has just the right mix of both. As a local photographer I thought it fitting to try to capture these places the way I see them.

The images are a series that originated from collection of images taken for a project called “The Beginning of the End”.  I wanted the shots to have no people in them to give a sense of positive, peaceful isolation.

2. Through the Hole - Newcastle Beach

Although “The Beginning of the End” contained many confronting scenes such as a collection of syringes near Strzelecki Lookout, I believe there is beauty in everything and that’s what I love to capture.

Whether it’s the old, rusted chains at Newcastle Beach, the sun setting over Queens Wharf or Newcastle Station by night, it has beauty.

Our city is beautiful, enjoy it everyday.

Black and white is a great fascination of mine as it forces you to rely on tone, texture and contrast.
