Opening of Plurality Graduating Students’ Exhibition
Want to see what our local arts students are made of? Don’t miss opening night of Plurality, an exhibition showcasing the graduate works of students completing an Advanced Diploma in Fine Arts. The exhibition will be opened by artist & lecturer Carolyn McKay, and live music will be provided by Balkan String Kings. Opening night kicks of at 5:30pm at Newcastle Art School on Hunter St.
If you can’t make it to opening night, you can still catch the exhibition until 2 December 2011.
Opening of Octapod’s New Hunter Street Space
Octapod is an exciting organisation that aims to inspire fresh new ideas in arts and media and supports the Hunter region with a variety of resources to enable and promote an innovative and artistic culture.
On Friday 2 December, The Octapod Association with be launching its new space. Octapod relocated in August 2011 from its home of 11 years on King Street. The new Hunter Street location has been refurbished and renovated and is now ready to open its doors for a celebration and to toast the valued past and exciting future of the organisation. A Newcastle artist run gallery, PODspace, will exhibit a fundraising exhibition on the same night. A display of Octapod historic memorabilia will be on show and the moving and talented local singer song-writer, Phoebe Daicos, will also be performing for your entertainment.
The launch will be held at 401 Hunter Street on December 2nd from 4pm till 6pm.
