New Bar Opening In Newcastle: The Squire’s Maiden
James Squire has unveiled The Squire’s Maiden in Newcastle, the first of its newly designed brew bars that showcase the flavoursome beers which carry the name of Australia’s first brewer in a truly unique setting.
The bespoke venue, located on Honeysuckle Drive and open daily, carries the full range of James Squire craft beers and seasonal brews on tap, paired with seasonal food menu.
Inspired by the character of James Squire and the times in which he lived, the venue features raw materials to evoke a sense of history and storytelling. Amber glass, iron and repurposed wood were combined as features in an otherwise modern setting.
Experience publican and owner of The Squire’s Maiden, Damian O’Reilly said: “We are proud and excited to bring something a little different to Newcastle. I’m sure Novocastrians will love The Squire’s Maiden for its eccentric atmosphere, creative food menu and unique setting.”
Dr. Chuck Hahn, James Squire Master Brewer and founder of the Malt Shovel Brewery, says The Squire’s Maiden will be a place of discovery and charm:
“James Squire was an extremely interesting individual - a charming rouge, jack of all trades, lover of women and a man of many tastes and talents. With The Squire’s Maiden, we hope to share his quirky personality and the many stories that come of his life along with our James Squire range of beers” said Dr Hahn.
In the coming weeks The Squire’s Maiden will commence hosting special evenings for members. On offer will be beer tasting with Chuck Hahn, beer and food matching with renowned chefs along with live entertainment featuring musicians, artists and comedians.
The Squire’s Maiden joins the already established The Generous Squire (Perth), The Squires Bounty (Hobart) and the recently opened The Curious Squire (Adelaide).
BEWARE: They don’t officially open for public trading until Monday the 10th December!!
this is the best news since sliced bread. where is the location of this wonderous bar?
It’s located in Honeysuckle, straight across from the Honeysuckle Hotel. Our sources tell us that it’s opening for normal trading tonight!
My experience - The beer was good, but the food was not cooked properly for how it was order even tho it was returned and was brough out worse. The service was polite, but that was probally the only positive thing I could say as you have to order like your at a RSL bistro. not a fan of bench seating if you were a girl that wanted to wear a short dress or skirt there people see more then whats on the menu.
I had to return my steak, it was so tough i could barely cut through it let alone chew it.
But the kids meal was ok.
