Look Hear is part conference, part clubhouse, part playground and self-proclaimed total design geek out that’s being held throughout August at the Newcastle Region Art Gallery.

Look Hear brings speakers from around Australia to talk about their creative processes & design influences. This year’s first round of speakers has been announced and includes locals from High Tea With Mrs Woo (fashion), The Hungry Workshop (letterpress; Brisbane), Brendan McKnight (editor of Desktop Magazine; Brisbane), Pip Jamieson (editor of The Loop; Sydney), Rodney Wade (Finsbury Green National) & Beci Orpin (design & illustration; Melbourne).

The presentations are held on Wednesdays in August and are aimed at industry professionals, university students and the general public.

Look Hear is paired with Look See, which exhibits the work of some of Australia’s most inspiring designers and artists and will feature a live art battle on opening night. The exhibit will be on show at the Watt Space Gallery from 3 - 21 August, and opening night will be Friday, 5 August from 6:30pm.

More program announcements will be made soon - to keep up with what’s happening, you can follow Look Hear on Twitter or check out their Facebook page.

Helen Henry grew up in Newcastle, and in 2010 graduated with a Bachelor of Communication from the local University. This was pleasing because it made her officially qualified to communicate about the things she likes most: music and the music industry, photography, digital, cute animals and her friends & family. Most recently, Helen worked as a Digital Projects Assistant at Sticky Advertising and was Editor of Urban Insider. She has recently landed a pretty sweet gig working in the music industry in Sydney.
