Global Battle of the Bands Newcastle Heat - Entries Open Now
The Global Battle of the Bands is back again in 2012, and this could be the chance to have your music recognised internationally! The Global Battle of the Bands started in 2004 and has grown to be the largest live talent competition for bands across all different genres, with over 30 countries taking part.
Not only does the competition give your band a chance to play on an international stage with other finalists around the world in hopes of becoming the Best New Band in the World, but the winners will receive a band development package worth $100, 000. The Australasian winners will also receive free travel and accommodation in order to play in the World Final.
In previous years, local Novocastrian bands have shot to the top of the competition; Powerage won the Australasian Final and were flown to London in 2008, narrowly missing out on the $100, 000 coming in second! As well as this, only last year The Tillegra Damned won the Australasian Final and were flown to Kuala Lumpur to compete in the World Final.
The 2012 Newcastle Heat will be taking place on Friday 30 March at the Great Northern Hotel. The two most important rules of the competition are; no cover versions and no pre-recorded music. If you think you have what it takes be sure to register your band! While the decision of the judges is final, audience voting will be taken into account in the Qualifying Heat and National Final; so even if you don’t plan on playing, grab your friends and head down to support your favourite local band!
