Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro have packed up their grooves and journeyed from their home just outside Tokyo to Australia this Summer. They’ve already impressed crowds at Woodford Folk Fest, Peats Ridge and in Byron Bay and tomorrow night, Thursday 5 January, they’re suiting up & taking to the stage at Newcastle’s very own Great Northern Hotel.

These guys have some serious chops & funk fans (let’s face it, who isn’t) should definitely head along! They’ll be supported by Superheavyweights. Tickets & more info.

This gig is for everyone: whether you’ve seen him before, just remember him as that amazing kid who won Australia’s Got Talent or haven’t had the pleasure of hearing him play, head to Lizottes on Thursday, 5 January and check out the latest offering from Joe Robinson. He’s just returned from Nashville with a rhythm section he picked up in Memphis and is debuting a bunch of new material, including introducing vocals to the mix. He was recently hailed as Best New Talent by Guitar Player magazine in the USA Reader’s Poll & is touring to promote his latest album.

Helen Henry grew up in Newcastle, and in 2010 graduated with a Bachelor of Communication from the local University. This was pleasing because it made her officially qualified to communicate about the things she likes most: music and the music industry, photography, digital, cute animals and her friends & family. Most recently, Helen worked as a Digital Projects Assistant at Sticky Advertising and was Editor of Urban Insider. She has recently landed a pretty sweet gig working in the music industry in Sydney.
