90s Nostalgia in Newcastle: Roost Creative Call-Out For Submissions

The Spice Girls

90s pop queens The Spice Girls could inspire your poster (or outfit)! Image courtesy of thebosh.com.

Ah the 90s…. bike pants, Britney, fluoro tees, snap bands, Round The Twist, The Spice Girls, grunge, mood rings, Alex Mack, scrunchies, Pulp Fiction… the opportunities for that nostalgic sigh are endless! If you want to party like it’s 1999, then look no further than The Roost Collective’s “Totally 90s” Night on Friday, 10 February 2012. We’re giving you plenty of notice for this one because, as well as dragging that 90s gear out of the wardrobe and re-learning all the lyrics for I Want It That Way by The Backstreet Boys, you’ll need time to design & submit a poster to The Roost for their 90s-themed exhibition. Here are the details:

For those with the chops, Roost is inviting you to make & submit a poster inspired by the 90s. Let your cherished memories be your ammo for creating the, and I quote, “freshest”, “dopest”, “radest” poster on the block. Inspiration available all over the world wide web, and probably in your CD collection & the back of your wardrobe. For the details on making your submission, go here.

It’s $10 entry (or free if you print at the Roost) and submissions close on 8 February.

Now, time to track down those denim overalls & rollerblades…

Helen Henry grew up in Newcastle, and in 2010 graduated with a Bachelor of Communication from the local University. This was pleasing because it made her officially qualified to communicate about the things she likes most: music and the music industry, photography, digital, cute animals and her friends & family. Most recently, Helen worked as a Digital Projects Assistant at Sticky Advertising and was Editor of Urban Insider. She has recently landed a pretty sweet gig working in the music industry in Sydney.
