2013 Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival Coming in March
Ever felt like reminiscing about the good ol’ days where life was carefree, fashion was swinging, music was rocking and the cars clearly spoke for themselves? Or maybe you’re someone who never got a chance to experience the glory of the 50’s and 60’s and want to know what the fuss is about. Whatever the reason, the Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival is one not to be missed. Consisting of three days over the weekend from 22nd – 24th March, the festival now in its 10th year attracts over 40,000 people to the region and town centre. Recognised as a NSW Tourism flagship event, you know that the 50’s and 60’s were mega important to a lot of people.
One of the biggest draw cards is the Car Show and Shine. On Saturday 23rd there will be a very limited car show event, with 100 spaces only. Vintage Motorbikes will also be included, so anyone wanting to showcase their old school roadster, pre-entry is strongly recommended. Sunday is the day for car lovers, with 500 car spaces available for classic cars. Reminisce indeed.
Ladies are not neglected either, with a wide range of market stalls, retro merchandise and fashion available for purchase. If cars and stalls aren’t your thing, why not see our youngest and brightest show off their talents through a Talent Quest held on the Saturday. With categories including Dance (under 18), Junior singing (under 13), and Senior singing (under 18), cheer on these youngsters who battle it out to be crowned winner.
For the lovebirds, what else screams romance then a Vegas wedding? Join other married couples during the Vegas Vow Renewal on Saturday at 1.30pm. With Elvis assisting their resident Minister, Kurri Kurri sure knows how to get the big guns. After getting re-hitched, there are some fantastic ticketed dances to get you in the swinging party mood. Check out the Nostalgia Festival website for a full list of ticketed dances, a list of local accommodation options, as well as purchasing their 2013 fridge magnet as a super cool way to remind you about this wicked old school event.
